Hachikenyahama Pier is set to transform into a Takoyaki Bar!

“Kukuru”, a long-established Takoyaki restaurant in Osaka, will cook the best Takoyaki on the river.

Please come and enjoy late summer while admiring the night view overlooking Okawa River made up of Nakanoshima buildings. A small cruise boat will also be operating if you wish to feel the beautiful night breeze!

*Seeking Participants for the Mido-suji Illumination “My Message Tree” Project!

During the “Festival of the lights in OSAKA 2017” Mido-suji Illumination, the ginkgo trees along the sidewalk of Midosuji are adorned with illuminated plates carrying your name and a special message. Why don’t you create your own heartfelt message on a brightly illuminated plate with words of appreciation or support to the important people in your life, or to mark your anniversary with your special someone? Your registration would be welcome!

■Application period

Application period for 1st Stage: Tuesday August 1 to Monday October 16, 2017

Application period for 2nd Stage: Tuesday October 17 to Thursday November 30, 2017

■Decoration period

1st Stage: Sunday November 12 to Sunday December 31, 2017

2nd Stage: Sunday December 17 to Sunday December 31, 2017

■Venue

Ginkgo trees along the sidewalk of Midosuji.

*The Committee office will decide where the plates will be set up.

(Who can participate?)

Those who donate 8,000 yen or more to the Mido-suji Illumination Fund.

*A donation of 10,000 yen or more is necessary for those who wish to have additional decorations on the plate.

*We can only respond to inquiries in Japanese.

Osaka Garden of Floral Culture will hold a “Nature Observation Event”!

On Saturday September 30, the Osaka Garden of Floral Culture will hold a “Nature Observation Event”

The theme is “Lazy dependent plants”, where the mysterious lives of parasitic plants will be introduced. Members from the Garden’s Botanical Observation and Guiding Club will be on hand to guide you and offer detailed explanations. Those who are interested, please come by!

“Nature Observation Event”

■Time required: Approx. One hour

■Capacity: 15 people

■Participation fee: 500 yen (includes drinks, garden entrance fee also required)

We are currently accepting participants for the “2017 Public Lecture Festa”!

Osaka Prefecture will hold the “2017 Public Lecture Festa” in Osaka Prefectural Government Otemae Building from Wednesday November 1 until Tuesday November 14.

For the special lecture of this year, a professional rakugo story-teller KATSURA Kaishi will perform “Rakugo”, a Japanese sit-down comedy in English. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to enjoy traditional Japanese culture in English! Please come!

Special Lecture “Let’s enjoy Rakugo in English!”

■Date and Time: Monday, November 6 From 10:30am to 12:00pm

■Lecturer: KATSURA Kaishi (Rakugo story-teller)

■Introduction: Mr. KATSURA Kaishi has translated classical rakugo into English and performed Rakugo in English worldwide to let people outside Japan know the fun of the traditional performance art. In this special lecture, he will actually perform Rakugo in English and then speak in Japanese about the appeal of Rakugo and some humorous episodes he experienced in different countries.

*”Rakugo in English” is told in simple English.

■Participation fee: 500 yen (Free for those 22 years old and younger)

*Seeking Supporting Members of 2025 Japan World Expo Committee and works for “My Expo Art Show”

Osaka Prefecture is currently making efforts to have Osaka-Kansai be selected as the host of the 2025 World Expo (commonly called the 2025 Japan Expo) together with the national government and Japan’s financial world. We hope to make this Expo an exciting event open for everyone to join. In the meantime, 2025 Japan World Expo Committee is currently seeking official supporters to become “members” of the Committee.

In addition, the Committee is accepting pictures and drawings for the “My Expo Art Show” from elementary school children until September 30. We hope to have a lot of entries, so please visit the Committee website for further details!

Everyone, let’s build the excitement and make the Osaka Expo happen!

*The 10th Expo Pakistan 2017

Expo Pakistan is one of the largest international exhibition and business meeting events held in Pakistan.

During the event, there will be a wide range of Pakistani goods for export such as textile products, leather goods, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, sporting goods, industrial products, and home interior items. It is hoped that this event will be an excellent opportunity for people to know the appeal of Pakistani export products. Your participation would be highly appreciated.

■Date and Time: Thursday November 9 to Sunday November 12, 2017

■Venue: Karachi Expo Center ( Karachi city, Pakistan)

■Hosted by: Trade Development Authority of Pakistan(TDAP)

■Category: General exhibition and business meeting event (textile products, leather goods, medical devices, sporting goods, etc.)

■Participants: Companies looking to import products from Pakistan (trading companies, importers, manufacturers, retailers, etc.)

■Participation fee: In principle, costs are to be covered by participants. However, there is a subsidy system that can cover return air tickets and accommodation expenses at most, after a participant’s claim has been examined (limited availability). Accommodation will be designated by the host of the event.

-Transportation service between the airport, hotel and venue

-Invitation to the welcome dinner reception
