*Osaka New Producer’s Showcase (“ONPS”): Super Rakugo

“Rakugo” is one of Japan’s greatest traditional performance arts. Now, thanks to “Super Rakugo”, people from overseas are able to enjoy Rakugo accompanied by video, sound, lights and English subtitles in a live house setting. Before the performance, a brief lecture about the fundamentals of Rakugo will be provided in plain words for those new to this performance art.

For example, you will learn that a Rakugo storyteller plays several roles by themselves, and that a Japanese folding fan is used to express various everyday tools. The program is sure to be fun for those yet to have seen Rakugo, either from Japan or abroad.
